Biography

Joshua Crumbly was born on October 15th, 1991 in Westlake Village, California



 He has always possessed a strong passion and love for music.  He started playing the piano at the age of
three, and by the age of five began classical piano training.  Joshua studied with Dathan Dedman, one of the
top piano teachers in the Antelope Valley.  He was performing in piano recitals after only three months of
formal lessons, earning high marks for his performances.



 While Joshua still plays the Piano, his first love is the Bass Guitar.  He started playing the Bass Guitar at
the age of nine.  Within the first three months of playing, Joshua began performing in student concerts at
the Palmdale Playhouse.  Joshua began his Bass Guitar study at “N Rhythm Music”, a music academy in
Palmdale under the tutelage of Rick Ilejay.  Joshua has studied the Bass Guitar with some of the best in the
music industry, starting with Victor Bailey, bassist for Weather Report, Madonna and many other top
groups.  He also has studied with Brian Allen, Todd Johnson and even was able to get an on the spot lesson
with Marcus Miller at the 2002 NAMM show.  Joshua has also been coached by such bass giants as Ricky
Minor and Reggie Hamilton.



 Victor Bailey has been instrumental in helping Joshua receive more recognition as a young and rising
performer.  Joshua has been able to sit-in with Victor Bailey at key locations in Los Angeles.   Joshua is at
present 13 years old and plays Bass Guitar with is father saxophonist Ronnie Crumbly all throughout
Southern California.  Joshua also plays with 15 year old child prodigy saxophonist Isaiah Morfin, Andre
Washington, The Grace and Truth Christian Fellowship Choir in Lancaster, California, the Quartz Hill High
School Jazz, Concert and Marching Band were he is a honor student.



  Joshua was privileged to have been able to study upright bass with the legendary, late Al Mckibbon,
former bandmate of Charlie Parker, Dizzie Gillespie and Coleman Hawkins.



 Joshua has recently performed at the Play Boy Jazz festival with the Los Angeles Multi-School Jazz Band
where he was a featured soloist and was interviewed by famed Jazz station KJAZZ.com.    Joshua is also the
winner of a 5 week summer scholarship to attend Berkley Music Conservatory in Boston next summer; also
has appeared on the KTLA Morning show with Gayle Anderson.  Joshua was also the July 2005 featured
artist on the popular website, www.teenjazz.com.



 Joshua currently is endorsed by Dean Markley Bass Strings, Fender Amplifiers, and MTD Basses.  He has
recorded with jazz piano Virtuoso Michael Furey, Saxophonist Isaiah Morfin, Pianist, Composer and
arranger Bill Fulton, Gospel Arranger, Pianist Bill Lummus.



 Joshua is featured on his Father’s CD entitled “Like Father, Like Son”.  Joshua has also performed with
Guitarist Phil Upchurch, Victor Bailey, Wayne Lindsey, Solomon Burke, Vernell Brown Jr. (Pianist for
Kenny Garrett and Gladys Night) and many other great musicians throughout Southern California.
